Some elevators allow you to double click to unselect a floor as well - give it a try if you hit the wrong button!
Been using this for 8 years - 30% - 40% success rate in my experience.
It works 100% on all buildings with 2 floors or fewer.
Just tested with a single-floor building and could not recreate reported behavior. Elevator stopped. Screenshot:

Bug reproduced. Closing, won't fix.
Just in from the marketing dept: please reopen, we've promised this feature.
Where is the 14th floor?
According 2600, this "hack" only works with "Otis" elevators, and not every elevator. My experience has borne this to be true.
Espen, there has never been floor 14 in Oceania. Please report to Miniluv, room 101.
Stayed in a busy hotel in San Juan, last month. Had hopped on the elevator, at the lobby, to take us to our room on the 8th floor. The elevator was packed. At the second floor, a hotel employee got on. While five floors had been selected, the elevator bypassed them all and took him to his floor.

This made me remember the "elevator hack". The rest of our stay at the hotel, we had non-stop elevators.
