The question isn't who's going to let me; it's who is going to stop me?

Think about this every day:

The question isn’t who is going to let me; it’s who is going to stop me. ~ Ayn Rand

If you aren’t comfortable with this attitude, it’s hard to be awesome. Sorry. You can be good enough without being assertive, but to a large extent, being awesome requires that you initiate, take action, and chart your own course through the norms of mediocrity.

I'm overdosing on Ayn Rand quotes (two per week is a bit much) but this is a great blog post by Chris Guillebeau.

I find this philosophy ridiculous. It is the worst existentialist philosophy can get (any philosophy can get bad). Our existence is at least partially defined by how we connect with others. If you deny these connections, you are really denying your humanity.

To deny the importance of other humans is to deny your own humanity.

Leroy - I'm sure you have misunderstood some part or parts of objectivism when it comes to its dealings with interpersonal relationships. Human connection is the most powerful of all connections and when you apply reason, rational self interest, and respect and observance of individual rights to all your personal relationships you will begin to understand that objectivism is a very rational formula for human success.
