Facetime in 2001

2001: A Space Odyssey, that is...

A space-faring man calls home via facetime-like phone booth. He inserts a card into the booth and has to enter a phone number on a 10 digit keypad. He apologizes to his daughter for missing her party -- "Daddy's travelling." Haha, understatement. 

Of course now we know this won't happen... he'd just open his iPhone or iPad. Obvi.

good thought problem there;pondering the assumptions and lack of vision. It's like the recent nonsensical "debates" about the debt ceiling etc. The assumption is that the resource base will always be the same and will always be driven by a nineteenth century model. Complete failure of the imagination
